Austin Java Parkway. “Sure Thing,” a weekly comedy show. 8 p.m. Saturdays. Free. 1206 Parkway. 512-476-1829, http://www.facebook.com/SureThingATX.

Cap City Comedy Club. Jay Oakerson. 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. $18- $22. Bill Bellamy. 8 p.m. Thursday. $18-$22. 8120 Research Blvd., No. 100, 512-467-2333, http://www.capcitycomedy.com.

Dave Chappelle. The headliner of 2014’s Funny or Die Oddball Comedy Tour is coming back to Austin, but this time you don’t have to drive way out past the airport to see him. The decision to stick Chappelle downtown was apparently a good one — show after show after show was added after his first sold out. Now there are only tickets left for the fifth and sixth (and, who knows, those may sell out, too). 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Saturday. ACL Live, 310 Willie Nelson Blvd. $58. 877-435-9849, http://www.acl-live.com.

Esther’s Follies. It’s “Shamrocks to Shenanigans!” as the Follies folk skewer the usual suspects. The Prez and other politicos unload on Capitol Hill with “Obamian Rhapsody.” The Boys of Sixth Street take cover as the ladies of Downtown Funk show them how to really woo someone, while social media is skewered in the satirical “Facebook Lament.” All this and magic, too. 8 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Esther’s Follies Theater, 525 E. Sixth St. $25-$35. 512-320-0553, esthersfollies.com.

Funniest Person in Austin. Watch your favorite Austin stand-ups fight to the death, comedically (and, OK, metaphorically) on the Cap City stage in the 30th annual hilar-a-thon. Monday and Tuesday. (April 12-14, 19-21, 26-28, May 3-5); semifinals, $8 (May 10-12); final night, $15 (May 18). 512-467-2333, http://www.capcitycomedy.com.

The Velveeta Room. Stand-up comedy hosted by Avery Moore. $5. 11 p.m. Friday. John Wessling with Ralph Hardesty. $10. 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. Saturday. Speed Mic. $5. 9 p.m. Thursday. 521 E. Sixth St. 512-469-9116, http://www.thevelveetaroom.com.
